Registration and Installation
Please read the following Questions & Answers to assist you in resolving any issues before you contact our Help Desk. Most issues can be resolved by identifying the issue here and then taking the relevant action. Some actions may involve us to assist you, for those actions you will need to contact us via our Help Desk.
For The Fishing Almanac please ensure that you include your CD Key or Order No when you contact us, as well as a detailed description of the issue, the steps that you took until you were presented with the issue and note any messages that were displayed.
All SOFTWARE USERS We do not provide telephone support as we need to prioritize all issues and respond accordingly.
We provide registration & installation support via our Help Desk during normal business hours and we will attend to your enquiry as soon as possible.

We have attempted to cover all aspects of operation with our User Guide or Help included in our applications.
If you need assistance in setting up the software or understanding how to use it, please refer to the User Guide from the main display: Help > Contents > User Guide. This should be your first reference, then refer to the FAQs included with the installation.
You can also refer to our most current version of FAQs and any updates that may be published via the Internet at: www.thefishingalmanac.com
If you have a usability issue which is not covered by the User Guide or FAQs and it prevents you from using the software you can contact us via the Help Desk and we will respond as soon as possible during business hours.

When I open the Help Facility or a Web page I get the following message:
"Pls wait, menu loading.... If the menu does not show you need to enable JavaScript / Active Content"
I have lost my Software Key and I need to re-install the software
When I click on the icon for Weather Oracle I get the following message:
"Unable to retrieve information, firewall, internet or communication error"
When I click on the icon for Weather Oracle I get the following message:

After I registered my details over the Internet I didn't receive my Registration details by email

Answers
I have sent emails to HAL Computing, what happens next?
We attempt to reply to all emails within 24 hours for all issues. If we don't reply within 48 hours please contact us directly via the Help Desk. There may be issues with a mail server either from your or our ISP. Contacting us via the Help Desk guarantees that we have received the email and we can respond to the issue.
Ensure that any spam filter with your email settings has not deleted or moved the email to prevent you from receiving it. You also may have keyed in an incorrect email address.
Sometimes ISP's block mail servers and we can only make contact with you via the Help Desk.
"There are no more licenses for this product to register"
You have already Registered your software for the maximum number of licenses purchased. An nominal administration fee may be charged to reset your Registration details. Contact our Help Desk.
"Record not found for CD Key"
Check that you are entering the CD Key correctly, it should be in the format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-NNNN (Where X is either a capital letter or a number and N is a number). Also check that you are entering Zeros (0's) or O'ws (O's) when required as well as I's or 1's and vice versa. Ensure that the length of the CD Key provided is 16 characters (excluding '-' characters).
"Invalid User Name or Software Key"
You need to enter your Software Key not the CD Key at the software Registration screen on your computer.
Registration is a 2 stage process. You must first Register your details over the Internet at: http://register.halcomputing.com to generate your Software Key. Use that Software Key and same User Name to Register the software on your computer. For more information there is help available at the web site when you Register.
"Invalid User Name or Software Key"
Check that you are entering the CD Key correctly, it should be in the format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-NNNN (Where X is either a capital letter or a number and N is a number). Also check that you are entering Zeros (0's) or O'ws (O's) when required as well as I's or 1's and vice versa. Ensure that the length of the CD Key provided is 16 characters (excluding '-' characters).
If the Software Key is correct then check that the User Name you enter is exactly the same as used when you Registered your details over the Internet. The User Name is case sensitive.
When you Register your details over the Internet your Registration details are emailed to you (also displayed on the confirmation web page) including the Software Key and User Name. An easy way to guarantee that you enter the same details is simply to cut and paste from the email (or web page) to the Registration screen on your computer).
If the User Name is correct and the Software Key is correct then you may have Registered an incorrect Registration Number over the Internet. Contact us via contact our Help Desk with the correct Registration Number so we can reset your Registration details.
This message will also be displayed if you attempt to install the software on another computer which has a completely different Registration Number (You can only install the software for the number of licenses purchased).
When I open the Help Facility or Web page I get the following message:

This issue is not an error, the message displayed is based on your web browser security settings (can be common if using Internet Explorer).
The Help facility is web based and any restrictions that you have set for your
web browser apply. You have the option to ignore the message (recommended) and
continue or change the settings within your browser to allow JavaScript /
ActiveX content.
I have lost my Software Key and I need to re-install the software
When you attempt to Register the software again over the Internet using your CD Key or Order Number, the Software Key will be displayed. If you have re-installed the software on another computer or re-built all/part of your computer the Registration Number is likely to change. This will require us to reset your details for the new Registration Number. A small fee may be charged to cover administration expenses. Contact our Help Desk.
When I click on the icon for Weather Oracle I get the following message:
"Unable to retrieve information, firewall, internet or communication error"
You need to be connected to the Internet to get weather information and that connection must not be blocked by any firewall settings. If there is an internet network issue that may also cause the issue and will be resolved when the network issue is resolved.
If you have ruled out firewall, internet and communication errors contact our Help Desk.
When I click on the icon for Weather Oracle I get the following message:
"Only available to registered users"
You must first Register the software on your computer so that the information becomes available within Weather Oracle (Weather Oracle is an add-on and does not need to registered).
After I registered my details over the Internet I didn't receive my Registration details by email
Ensure that any spam filter with your email settings has not deleted or moved the email to prevent you from receiving it. You also may have keyed in an incorrect email address when your Registered your details via the Internet. To view your Registration details just attempt to Register again via the Internet and your details will be displayed. (Note: The email address displayed is the email address you have currently entered, not the original email address. At this stage we do not allow updates to email address via this facility.)
I have changed my mind about using the software, can I get a refund?
We do not normally offer any type of refund once the software is installed and registered on a customers computer. If a customer changes their mind about using the software then a request for a full refund must be made prior to any registration of the software for a computer.
The company policy is based on the fact that we are unable to confirm that the software has actually been physically removed from the computer. If the customer can provide proof that this has occurred then we can perform a refund less any postage, handling & administration costs when applicable.
An nominal administration fee may be charged to provide you with a new download link. Contact our Help Desk to organize a software replacement.
